Color Theory Capstone

Big Idea/Essential Question: How does learning about color theory help create a more dynamic painting? Why do people find the eye so appealing in paintings and photographs?
Smart Goal: 90% of students will produce a watercolor painting that reflects their knowledge of color theory. Students will learn how to draw an eye and use watercolor. Students will be graded based on their understanding of color, techniques, and ability to explain their projects. Students will use a rubric during the lesson and will end with a reflection about the project.
Vocab: color theory, tertiary, complimentary, complimentary, color wheel, warm colors, cool colors, light spectrum
INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN:
Monday: Slide show on Color Theory/Intro to Lesson
Tuesday: Practicing watercolor techniques/ pass out worksheet on how to draw an eye
Wednesday: drawing the eye
Thursday: Planning out the project
Friday: 6 for 60 points. 6 drawings of the eye before they begin
